Riverdale artist Stephen Murphy is holding his first major art exhibition at the Assembly Hall Art Gallery in Etobicoke. The opening reception is Wednesday, June 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. The show will run until July 25. "I call the show a retrospective of travelling artists from southern Ontario and beyond," he said. Murphy's watercolour paintings include landscapes from Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and southern Ontario. "The paintings are very vibrant colours," he said. Prices at the show range from $100 to $2,000. "Everyone is welcome to come," he said. "I'm hoping to speak to quite a few people." Murphy, who has lived in the east end of Toronto his whole life, has been working with watercolour professionally for the past seven years. For the past two years, he has participated in the Riverdale Art Walk, an annual art show for people to see local work. But he said he's excited to head out of Riverdale for his art exhibition. "It's a great location for the show," he said. Assembly Hall Art Gallery is at 1 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr., near Kipling Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard.
